On the weekend of November 6 & 7 the Caribbean Rum and Beer Festival held their annual event on my island.
In keeping with wishes of wanting to keep you guys up on things happening on the island, and wanting to try something new, I attended the event, and convinced a friend to go with. We had such a good time!
Sadly, on both days we got there after 6pm, the event started at 2pm, so we weren’t able to experience it fully. However, what we did experience was a lot of fun. I am not a big non mixed rum drinker but i did enjoy the tasting.
There was a bartending contest with bartenders representing three different companies on the island, Blue Waters, Toppers Rhum and the Guavaberry Emporium. Then at the end of day 2 each there were awards given out on best distilleries based on different categories: white rum, flavored rum, spiced rum, dark beers, logger bills and aged rums ( not the full list of categories).
My favorite tasting was from Barbados, Kaiso Fine Liqueurs. Every drink that they had for sampling was to my favour. All in all it was a very enjoyable weekend. And I hope the Caribbean Rum and Beer Festival chooses St. Maarten again next year to hold their event.
And of course in true Caribbean style, once the work was over it was then time for everyone to enjoy themselves and that they did.
